I’ve been trying to get some action on idling cars. At the moment, an environmental officer needs to witness it happening, and ask the driver to stop. If they don’t stop, then they can get a £20 fine. Hardly a deterrent.

Especially outside school where parents are putting their own children at risk outside the school, & often babies sitting in the back of the car exposed to in-car pollution which can be x3 worse than on pavement. . We need to enforce the regulations that we have but also step up with education.

Most often seen in council vehicles, or commercial, followed closely by parents outside the nursery/school gates.

Submitted an FOI, apparently all 170 drivers who were asked to switch off did so. Less than 1 every 2 days is quite the enforcement strategy.
