Europe doesn't have some of the types of weapons that Canada NOW needs. Anecdotally, for some niches vacated by US, the only other free world manufacturer is Ukraine.

And / or just subjugate Canada in the process / instead, assuming the New America would stand on its dick in the case of a Chinese military intimidation / creeping colonization of Canada.
