I see your point however today's top ally could be tomorrow's enemy. 75 or so years ago Japan was our enemy. We really have sold away our industry and will always pay a steep price for it. We were once the envy of the world in industrial might.

Yes that's fair but I don't see that happening anytime soon as US, Japan and other allies have strong interests in countering China. And I think it's less that US companies have sold away industry rather than moved their money away. Would be nice to have the favor returned in this case
