It took too long, but Adam learned a lot about the criminality of the Republicans. He addresses it in his book. To be part of a party means loyalty to the party, not the people. That’s why he named his organization Country First. Some of the loudest voices in the US right now are ex-Republicans.
There's something to be said for past votes. There's also something to be said for current actions. Kinzinger is doing a lot to stand against Trump. More than most elected Dems. I don't love his voting record, but he's not wrong here. We can criticize people (or party) and still be on the same side.

You're welcome to look for yourself, he's been extremely vocal in his crusade against Trump, especially since leaving office. He even spoke at the DNC for Kamala... I'm not saying he's perfect, just that people can be more than one thing. No one said you have to idolize him. But he is right.
