One of our student assistants, who hated the stereotype of the conceited MIT undergrad, told us “I’m not the smartest student in the class, but I can outwork ’em!”
Law requires explaining what you're thinking to a judge, colleague, jury, client etc so any argument or process has to be legally valid and comprehensible to a layperson. Which means you asking them to go over why or how they thought of something is exactly what would happen in the real world. :)
Everyone who completes law school, passes a bar and is sworn in is called a lawyer whether they showed off in class or not.
It is a joy to be surrounded by people smarter than oneself.
You have something they might not have. You have grit, determination and a bunch of us who believe in you.
Smart is so very appealing & impressive. We need more smarties (like you) instead of the willfully stupid loud ones. (Smartypants have their unique appeal too). 😊

I would imagine though that once you get past all the law learning, your background in law enforcement and national security will enable you to read people and think fast on your feet when you’re cross examining etc at trial, a real plus
