And to be fair, a lot of the comments in TOS could be considered racist, but you do also have to consider that it was written 60 years ago, and also that only his two best friends were "allowed" to do it, and Spock bantered back quite happily.
I remember Darren Mooney's rundown of TNG saying Pulaski was clearly trying to give a McCoy dynamic and Data was the Spock, and it failed because Data does _not_ come back, he's too nice and unaware of what people are saying, so it's just her being mean.
Yeah. Data is slightly autism-coded (potentially accidentally) in a way Spock isn't. Spock made jabs against humans all the time. Data would never do that.
(And to be fair to Pulaski, the thing people forget is that by the end of season 2 she's basically Data's biggest fan. I'm curous how that could have developed if she'd stayed.)
