Methane bubbles in Lake Baikal The lake is a vast storehouse of methane, a greenhouse gas that, if released, could potentially increase amount of infrared light absorbed by Earth’s atmosphere, and so increase the average temperature of entire planet overlookhorizon.com/methane-bubb...

The gas, liquid, solid array of methane capture, is inverting at an alarming rate. This is perhaps the most underrated perils our species faces.

And here the pressure centers and wind speeds at 15km high during 1 and 8 of August to show how it looked like in reality

I have a nice peak for you - the NAO made ping in August 2024 - lead to a anomalous northward warm water transport off the coast of Norway - positive NAO events - pressure difference of the Iceland low and Azores high - enhance the northward warm water transport of the North Atlantic current...

What is the source of the methane? Is it organic, geological, or the melting of methane hydrate?

And the methane hydrate is from geologic methane sources: "The gas in the sediments and gas hydrates is composed of 99% thermogenic methane. " link.springer.com/article/10.1...

I had been wrong - actually its really methane hydrates fragments rising to the surface - strange, never heard that... www.nature.com/articles/s41...

This sounds very much like a potentially worrying temperature increase ->hydrate methane release ->temperature increase feedback loop.

Likely one of the former two - methane hydrates should not be possible - in the Arctic shelf regions its a left over from sea level rise and former glaciers residing in this area from the last ice age in this area - pressure. Have no idea from this lake - actually surprising Algal blooms, sediments?
