My little rural school is hemorrhaging students. My suggestion to convince some local farmer to build a boatload of affordable housing on one of his fields in order to convince people to move/stay was ill regarded.

Yeah, there's got to be jobs and stores and whatnot to support people, but around here we have tons of those, but little affordable housing. People should be able to get a place to live in the same community where they work.

There’s work, and there’s a short easy commute to better work, and new population has gravity.
