Hello, I know we're all busy with important things but perhaps you will enjoy knowing that my niece and I went to a vampire museum (in Pennsylvania of all places!!!) It was really great? Like full of antique vampire killing implements from the 1800s, among other things

This is a photo of an antique wooden trunk, likely from the 1860s, full of various implements for killing vampires, including stakes, a pitchfork, a mallet, holy water, garlic, and a bible. Here are some more photos from VAMPA, the vampire museum. These are photos of a Jinn warfare case, with similar tools in it used to fight vampires, like spikes and what appear to be wooden scimitars

Here are two particularly fun photos, in which we learn Michael Jackson bought this antique vampire set as a gift for David Gest, Liza Minnelli's late husband but then returned it and ended up with an $8000 store credit. I am slightly dubious because Thriller came out way before Liza married David

Speaking of shooting, here's a fun antique vampire set with a little pistol in it, another set with some ornately carved instruments, and some assorted vampire-related spikes and crucifixes. Plus an etching (??) my niece pointed to while saying "that's a really fat bat"

Next up is this absolutely insane... rocking chair? Which may or may not have been owned by Vincent Price? honestly this thing is metal as hell

An image of a rocking chair which frankly I don't even know how to begin describing in this alt text. The back of the chair is the torso of a human skeleton but with a small head, and the arms are obviously the arms and hands. But just the hip bones, spine, skull and some weirdly curved ribs? It gets even better in the side view photo next THIS CHAIR IS SO INSANE!!! Ok as mentioned in the previous photo this is an image of a rocking chair which frankly I don't even know how to begin describing in this alt text. The back of the chair is the torso of a human skeleton but with a small head, and the arms are obviously the arms and hands. Then coming off the front of the rockers is another skeleton? But just the hip bones, spine, skull and some weirdly curved ribs? And then there's another of the same off the back of the rockers?

Ok!! Now it's time for some exorcism chairs! Or maybe one exorcism chair and one torture chair?? I don't know but guys these are terrifying!!!!! What the fuck! The placard on the front of the first one says "extremely rare" which is only somewhat reassuring

A photo of an A photo of an Not sure if this is an exorcism chair or a torture device because it is horrifying!! There is a bar with what appear to be enormous metal pincers for the head, plus a chain attached to some kind of awful looking feet restraints

in case you needed a more specific breakdown

a placard that reads: LEVELS OF DEMONIC OWNERSHIP 1. Infestation - voices, objects moving, strange odors, apparitions, and noises. Affects property not directly affecting people. Animals are also affected by this, especially dogs. 2. Oppression - major sleep disturbances, intense nightmares, uncontrollable depression and anxiety, relationship hardships, financial difficultly. When many of these events occur simultaneously, it could not just be course of life but demonic presence. 3. Obsession - sleep is nearly impossible. Sensing a demonic activity all the time. Thoughts of suicide. The afflicted person has an almost impossible time functioning. 4. Possession - the soul is severely compromised by the demonic spirits taking control over the person. Signs of possession, access to secret knowledge, superhuman strength, facility in a language not known, and a vehement aversion to God and sacred objects, including crucifixes and holy water.

Honestly I REALLY liked this place and the collection was amazing, and I thought the informational placards were quite thoughtful (even when occasionally I found them silly, but that's on me). I met the owner, Ed, and he was very nice.

a placard entitled: THE ART OF THE KILL The myth of the vampire has been a controversial subject from ancient civilizations up to the modern age. From the Roman Catholic Church to squabbling drunks in English pubs from famous theologians to teenage girls and boys vampires have fueled a folk legend that cannot die and lives on today. This myth has given the world fascinating works of art. These vampire killing sets and weapons are the strongest testimonial to the validity of this strong belief. People are often confused by the originality of these intriguing objects. The confusion is quite understandable, as often secrecy and privacy are trademarks of the vampire killing community. This conclusion is undeniable. So many of these sets were made under a cloak of secrecy. Vampire killing sets do not grow from seeds. Vampire killing sets do not come from incantations from a book of magical spells. Nor do they appear out of thin air. They are made by humans! The creators of the vampire killing sets were not lone monks in solitude nor were they mentally deranged hermits. They were accomplished artisans and academics that were devoted to this trade. These sets are not just museum pieces to be admired for their beauty. Their intended purpose was to hunt down and kill vampires or vampire collaborators. Sometimes a person suspected of being a vampire was also the victim to this folklorec legacy. This is why vampire hunting and killing was always a private matter. Families often feared the retribution from authorities or the church when exercising their belief in this myth. ART OF THE KILL Whether that conviction was the belief in vampires or a belief that making a vampire killing set could be sold for financial gain, nothing could be too precious or elaborate while crafting these masterpieces. These mysterious objects of art with their harmonious combinations of form and function are balanced perfectly. In every sense, it is the art of the kill. Each material available was skillfully used in compliance with the guidelines and ancestral customs of the times. A garden tool could be paired with a crucifix to become a great weapon. A hand blown perfume bottle could be used to hold holy water. Just as Japanese farm tools were converted into martial arts weapons by peasants in Okinawa, vampire weapons are often inspired by the same imagination. These beguiling vampire killing sets are also quite similar to antique European suits of armor in the sense that a collaboration of different countries and timeframes make up the vampire set. Not only crossing the boundaries of years but, sometimes, centuries. As in museum quality suits of armor, you would find a gauntlet from Spain with an Italian helmet. A 15th century sword with a 16th century breastplate. Vampire killing sets are similar. To say a vampire set is not original is for the most part misleading. Just as in knightly battle where a warrior would not leave weapons on the battlefield, but would take them as spoilages of war, vampire killing sets share the same historical necessity. I have seen vampire sets with a bible dated from 1760, a gun from 1880, and a dagger spanning a time difference of a hundred years. A French set could have a German bible simply because the family lived in France but spoke German. Bottles could be replaced, bullets might not be sized correctly. These are some of the answers to the questions that arise out of the fog and thick foliage of this world. Enjoy your journey into the world of beautiful symbolic imagery.
