The militarisation of EU borders has been ongoing for years - it's not specific to Russia, even if that's the current context for Poland, Finland et al. As before, the EU is very much in the find out phase of enabling neighbouring and/or hostile states to instrumentalise asylum-seeking in this way.

Good. That is that the EU is supposed to represent. Freedom, democracy and solidarity. The dictatorships will do things differently, we knew this already.

the freedom to pay dictatorships a ton of cash and visa liberalisation measures to kill, torture and arbitrarily detain would be migrants, absent any democratic oversight, then cry about it when it all goes tits up. you're welcome for the correction.
