Just signed up. Thanks.
Just signed up. Thanks.
Just fyi you should never actually sign up. Just note all the details into your calendar but don't apply your name to a permanent database.
Good idea.
No. Lists are good. They’ll make picking up anyone in the opposition much more efficient and save us a lot of money. Seriously, “be as courageous as you can” but from this moment forward know what risks you are taking. The goal is 100,000 per month and I don’t think ICE will too picky
Valid point. I don't think people should sign up to a list without precautions. If it's a virtual event that requires registration, use a fake name and protected email. And of course, know the risks. But let's not fool ourselves — list or no list, if you’re resisting, they’ll know who you are.
I believe I have to sign up for a virtual event, but I understand what you mean. Also, I think Indivisible is really good about privacy — but that doesn't protect you from hacks.
I dont fucking care. Put my name in your Palantir database.
Im with you. F these fascists.
It’s an online event. You can’t get the link without signing up.
Then that event is a honeypot. There is no excuse for poor opsec.
No. It’s a security measure and platforms have maximums but today of all days I don’t feel like arguing with people on social media. Go or don’t go.
what you said, fanof...!
Paper calendar. They can see your online one.
Ah, shit. I never even think about that one.
That's my MO. Don't put yourself on any list you don't need to be on
1/3 I get that — I feel the exact same way. But at this point, Trump, the Christian Nationalists, and tech-fascists are building a database of every American. There’s nowhere to hide. They’ll know who attended protests, who organized, who spoke out — and if they decide you’re a problem, you’re gone.
3/3 That said, I do understand where you’re coming from. I had to make a conscious decision to start giving my name to some of these orgs.
2/3 That’s why, when the time comes, it matters more to me to be well-connected and part of the resistance than to lay low. Either way, the traitors will have my name.
Yeah, we're past the point of laying low. Either go full off radar or mostly out and proud. My biggest complaint about signal is that you can't install it on a burner phone, unless you go pinephone or pick up a second number
It is also getting harder to pay cash for a phone without providing ID. I'm in the US but I understand that some EU countries require photo ID for a prepaid SIM. And even if you do pay cash, cameras are ubiquitous. My bank knows who I am before I talk to a teller, thanks to AI. This will be common.
