I have read plenty about anarchist politics and engage with a lot of serious anarchist organisers, which is why I know there's a lot more to it than the "it's not a government because it's us doing it" silliness that keeps emerging among the irretrievably online

Like it's entirely possible for a polity to exert sovereignty over their home without the need for hierarchical oppression, that's kinda the idea that experiments like rojava and chiapas operate on, but they make no pretense that they aren't governing it

also YOU are the one who used the word sovereign to mean government, not me. it’s how this conversation started.

You're the one who equates sovereignty with totalitarianism when it could equally be exerted by the community itself. If we discard Rojava and Chiapas, what anarchist projects actually hold and manage land outside of the control of nation-states?

i equated sovereignty with government, not totalitarianism. anarchists oppose the state when when it’s NOT totalitarian!

there’s 0 large scale anarchist societies today. there’s large organizations that pull heavily from anarchism like aanes and ezln, but they aren’t and don’t claim to be anarchist. we just like them because they’re closer than anyone else. i would argue there’s also 0 large scale communist ones

sorry what is it that I like? And are you as an anarchist not aspiring to communism? I mean presumably you're not an ancap, that would be a hell of a twist to spring on me lol

i sort of assume everyone who uses this sort of “but ah, now you’ve created a state!” is an ML/M, am i wrong to assume that?

I think that Marxism is a useful toolkit and Leninism/Maoism are useful case studies, but adhering to any of them as ideology misses the point and will leave you both decades behind and thousands of miles out of place. I believe that seizing the machinery of the state from our enemies or at least-

idk maybe i’ve run into a wild marxist who isn’t all about slobbing the knob of the chinese state, happens rarely but they do often have profile pictures like yours 😂

who are these mythical statist anarchists who disagree with me and how the hell do they consider themselves anarchists? like i’m talking baseline day one anarchism. i think you’d have better conversations about this is you were willing to accept the premise of anarchism.

i’m totally willing to accept the premise of your politics even if i disagree with them. folks in your position usually attack anarchism as simply nonsensical and impossible outside rhetoric. thing is it’s been done at scale and is done by people all the time.
