I got my first one ever in September of 2019 - never had them before that. Exactly one skull-crusher, and after that I learned to head them off with drugs, so there's been no repeat. Some friends of mine get them regular as clockwork every month and it wipes them out for three days at a time.

A blood pressure drug? Interesting! For me, plain old ibuprofen (our American friends call it Advil, apparently) is enough to head off the pain, and there's some evidence that the cause for me is actually neck pain and general spinal crunchiness.
