His disregard for his children can also be seen when he carries his toddler on his shoulders while wearing body armor because he's afraid of being shot. He is cruel to the children he can't control and craven to the ones he can.

He's pretty clear about this - his children are an instrument of actualization for himself. Nobody is real except him.

That’s how a lot of conservatives see their kids. I suspect it’s at the heart of a lot of anti-trans bigotry; your children never turn out to be quite who you expected them to be, and conservatives can’t handle that.
