Planners need to understand that when you stop a march (e.g., just after crossing the overpass of the Kennedy) for more speeches and let people stand there for close to half an hour (in the sun) with no information, that some marchers are going to peel off and maybe not come back the next time.

Apparently there were three additional "speech stops" planned in addition to the initial Haymarket Square speeches, and nobody thought about the reality that there were hundreds of people behind the front line who had no idea of what was going on and could not hear anything.

We finally threw in the towel at Jackson and Sangamon when a trailer blocked the road and it was apparent there were going to be yet more speeches. You'll always pull in the faithful...

but if we want to grow these protests the organizers need to consider the more frustrating aspects of these gatherings. Maybe ask for feedback from the public that's plodding along behind you?
