I always question the degree of projection that causes this kind of cognitive dissonance. Cultural environment absolutely plays a huge part but at a certain point there's gotta be a degree of them wanting to do the Bad Thing and just taking it out on those they view as culturally inferior

I also saw some good analysis on how some of the people who expound about order vs disorder don't actually mean it in the sense of, like, things being organized vs messy or functioning smoothly vs having friction, but rather they mean the pecking order of who is permitted to unilaterally harm whom.

Oh yeah, hierarchy is huge for that mentality. That's why they are suspicious, or even hostile, towards social services. Getting help means you'll be on an imaginary rung that you didn't "earn". PLUS those running the service must be getting some advantage because why else would they help?

So in that context, "disordered" means anything from "that [minority] is acting above their station" to "I don't think rich people ought to be punished for this."
