Many groups I donate to monthly, directly to them so they can use the money however they wish and in a way that helps them not make emergency pleas that sound scammy.

No, I choose to support organizations that treat their employees well and give them decent wages. There are many ways to get these groups support. I support many groups without using Amazon or Walmart.
