Save the outrage for the ones that are abused, slaughtered, chased down and skinned alive, kept in cages for their whole life etc. And defend the spaces they need to be wild.

Dogs were once wolves, foxes are on a pathway towards domestication. Some species survive our nonsense by becoming our companions. It is a survival strategy. It's not fair to punish them for adapting to our presence everywhere.
You're making it seem like this was a survival choice. But it's big business to steal wild animals to be bred, trained, traded to zoos and parks. The older members of their group would have been killed. The Japanese do this to 1000ds of dolphins every year, causing the wild populations to plummet.
Once something becomes normalised and trendy, especially when disseminated by social media, this boosts demand. Most of the owners won't be able to look after them properly for practical reasons. They also require highly specialised (expensive) medical care.
I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but my main point is, they don't choose this. They'd rather be wild, regardless. Many captured dolphins commit suicide. (They don't just fall ill; they forcefully self-harm.) Oh dear...The OP just meant to be uplifting. Sorry for bringing everyone down 😫
You are right, companies or governments stealing them from the wild should not be condoned and many zoos/parks that aren't rehab sanctuaries are awful masquerading as conservation. The agencies in the US kill too many wild animals because they violate a magic distance bubble and are "used" to people
I just wish our energy was focused more on the governments and companies that cause mass harm instead of the one person who saved a squirrel and now has a squirrel pet, raccoon, skunk, otter etc if that person is actually caring for them and not trafficking them around.
Dammit i was about to say this. Shut up and take my Like
