Are you a parent? This kind of post violence “ritual” where we further intrude on the victims is feeding into the desensitization of this country and our children. Protect children. Let them process the trauma when they experience it.

It’s the composure that’s striking to me. It tells me we’ve gone way over the line when it comes to normalizing violence. No way any of my kids would be able to compose themselves like that- and perhaps the kids are in shock. But it bothers me so much the extreme shift in how we protect our kids.
EXACTLY. This is somehow normal. It is also “normal” to demand “where are this child’d parents and why is he on air”. The value system is completely fucked up. Again this will be out of the news cycle by tomorrow and people are angry this child spoke to the press. Not the fact that this is normal
So fucking weird that you are all indignant about protecting a kid from (checks notes) trauma when he just survived a shooting. Imagine living in a country that values its guns over its children and then gets all preachy about the parent allowing this child to speak about his trauma. Desensitized!
Of course you shouldn’t interview a 10 year-old right after something as traumatizing as this. This type of thing litterally only happens in the US. It is bizarre.
It only happens in the US because your country uses its little kids as targets. That’s why
What on earth are you talking about?
Answering your question. If there are no school shootings no child would have to be interviewed .
And so you’re saying that my country (Denmark) uses children as targets? That makes no sense.
I neither know nor care where you’re from. I was talking about the US and treating little kids as targets because there is not enough will to stand up for gun legislation and to provide adequate MH services
You commented on my post. Jesus.
I know. Jesus
Thank you!! While I don’t agree with interviewing child survivors, I do agree with ER docs who say we should see what these guns do to children. The interviews serve as a sick arm chair review of horrific events.
I raised 4 children and none of this is normal. How about you take your indignant attitude and actually put it against the fact this is a daily occurrence. “Protect the children” from being interviewed AFTER SURVIVING A SHOOTING is a really bizarre take. How about protect them FROM BEING SHOT.
Are you for real? Every day in amazed by how many folks interpret the words of complete strangers in the internet solely through their own perspective. Gtfooh with your bullshit. You have ZERO idea what I’ve done, where I’ve been, anything at all yet you got a little emotional
because I hit a nerve when asking you a simple mother fucking question. You read ALL of that into my comment. You’re part of the problem. Trigger happy individuals just waiting to go off about something. It’s painfully clear why we are where we are as a society.
All I did was read what you posted. You want to “protect the child” from what?!?! How about instead of worrying about further trauma from being interviewed and place that concern on why a kid has to be interviewed after surviving yet again another shooting. Truly the most bizarre take of the day.
Sure thing. Have a great day!
