Yepppp, my inability to physically do most jobs in addition to how expensive my medical care is pretty much eliminates any chance of me being accepted for immigration even in asylum countries. Love the way how even for shit this serious disabled folks are the first to be abandoned 🫠
And it's not to say there isn't tons of jobs I could and would love to do, because I'm applying to shit constantly!! It's just no one is hiring a disabled man who can't stand up for extended periods of time and cannot safely lift 50lbs when 20+ young able bodied folks are applying to the same jobs.
Yeah its a hellscape for anyone who isn't in peak health and its so upsetting. Especially seeing how including disabled people *is* a option with covid / work-from-home but now they are denying all of that and putting us back in the depths of poverty while our health issues need so much money.
Yea no for real! Disabled folks have been begging for work from home jobs for decades, and then the moment they start existing we don’t even get considered for them without already being in those specific jobs 🫠
I’m so frustrated that I am just never even considered anymore for any jobs that only really require upper body work. I bagged groceries while seated at a Target for years, I have experience doing inventory work, I’ve run small shops alone. I just feel like I should be worth hiring for /something/
The weird obsession in America of always-be-standing is something I’ve never understood. (To be transparent I’ve not had a job in 17 years, currently fighting the system for disability benefits, a truly dehumanizing experience.) I hope you can find something soon though :(
