Linux is safer than Windows for sure, but it also has its share of vulnerabilities and backdoor. Ex: XZ-utils had a backdoor for long that affected most distros. The one who discovered it was actually a M-$oft researcher. Since Linux runs on most servers too, everyone depends on it being safe.
at least it can be scanned and investigated.. the others are opaque to scrutiny...
