I just sat through 6 hours of grad school orientation at a CSU and it would serve as a good counter weight to this. Strong pro-dei flavor, perhaps even an certain flavor of defiance too.

Sure, but was the “awokening” originally institution-driven or did they merely adapt to it? I think the latter. And I believe given improving public opinion on trans people and DEI since the election, that institutions would eventually adapt again if Trumpist pressure and intimidation were absent
