as someone who lived in the 80s, I much prefer the first. The brown and wood paneled everything was fucking horrendous. That and the subsequent 90s interiors are why I just can’t be bothered by the current “millennial grey” minimalism all that much.

I honestly have the opposite opinion. Not that I don't like the synthwave aesthetic at all, but there's no reality behind it which makes it feel kinda empty, like there's nothing beyond those palm trees.
