That's part of it, but they also genuinely don't seem to understand that there's a whole corner of the internet that idolizes mass shooters and are in the process of radicalizing each other into doing mass shootings

Actually part of my issue today is that while yes, that is true (and I wrote about it,) now the internet gifters and tabloids are taking this to extreme and doing some wild conspiracy theories about how it relates to this case (not as directly as some of the others from what I'm seeing)
