Basically I use it instead of sugar pretty much everywhere. Makes great cranberry sauce for turkey—just cranberries, a little orange juice & zest, maple syrup, baking spices. The best/most flavourful maple syrup is the extra dark if you can get it.

I just looked up on Ancestry and there was an Adrien St. Onge inn New Brunswick, but it's not the same guy. My family lineage (the St Onge part) come from closer to Quebec and in that area. Actually, my dad's family all came from that area too and someone moved to Nova Scotia and then down to NH.

For Ontario, our premier said he would do that, but then changed his mind again when the tarrifs were delayed, a few hours later (so nothing happened then really). Now the tarrifs are actually on so he actually did it. Other provinces have had different timelines with it all.

Ontario liquor board imports 1 billion/yr in US alcohol alone. We have 9 other Liquor boards. This is above and beyond the federal 25% tariffs. Next comes electricity and rare earth minerals. Then water...etc. Better check on Kentucky, Tennessee and Napa Valley.

It snows about 3 times per year, on average, in Tokyo. It snowed yesterday! But, yeah, slightly more mild weather than Vancouver. I think south Vancouver island is similar enough to grow oranges, though. There are a ton of varieties of oranges and lots produce fruit in the winter.

Last month, just before the previous round of tariffs we’re supposed to start, some of the liquor store started pulling the American products off the shelves. Customers were offering to help the staff so the bottles would go back to the back store quicker.
