My experience in 4 cities: Progressives: Yes to affordable density, no to only building luxury condos and displacing tenants now housed in cheaper, smaller dense housing. Conservatives: This tower spoils my view. That complex will bring in the wrong kind of people to the neighbourhood.
NOT in terms of history. Great and interesting history. No, it's conflating progressive values with NIMBYism. Progressive leaders in cities are in reality held back by the wealthier, single-family forces who have so much power. Sure, there are exceptions, but so what?
