I took a ferry each way across a frozen gulf of finland in **checks notes** 2005. It was cool as hell! Tallinn is a super neat city.

My Helsinki advice is to see as much alvaro aalto architecture as you can. The Kiasma Art Museum designed by American architect Steven Holl is also wonderful (if you're a person deeply affected by the play of light and shadow on physical space)
