The erosion of strong, independent journalism in Canada leaves politicians like Poilievre, Smith, and Ford go largely unchallenged. Instead of probing scrutiny, we get soundbites for clicks on news websites. Without rigorous reporting, we're left with theatre in place of accountability.🇨🇦 4/4

A great thread. I think there are a lot of us who feel the same.

I completely agree. I would like to see a rejuvenation of investigative actual journalism and a return to a news channel that we can all watch that gives accurate news. And not that equal time to either side crap, but call it like it really is & let us decide. Hard to do w/out bias, but possible

Most of the CBC panellists are party strategists or former strategists. It’s wholly without value, except for the stoking of culture wars.

That’s a problem, right? Their goal isn’t honest intellectual progress—it’s pushing the party line. What's worse, in my view, is that these panelists weigh in on every topic under the sun, regardless of their expertise. The result? A spectacle of argument masquerading as meaningful debate.

Yes. Same problem as US. Nothing is “news” and nothing is real. It’s just a reality show.
