When do you start training for your January half?
The official training schedule started a few days ago, but I've been doing some maintenance running through the summer just to keep up my base. So I'll do 30 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then longer run (usually a 3.5-mile loop around campus) on Saturdays. Brutal in the summer here.
Hopefully you'll get some cool stretches soon. I am not built to live down south, that's for sure.
Nice thing is that the longer training runs, which will be like 10 and 12 miles, will come in November and December. And everything seems easier when last year I was doing 20 and 23 miles on those days.
Twenty-three miles, many that's amazing though. Hope the training is smooth and the knees hold up!
Likewise! The plantar fasciitis seems to have responded to the first round of treatment, so I'm hoping the foot holds up through the fall.
When I have to run in 71 I am usually getting up at 5 am to do it, and also it's the dog days of July or early August. It's a miserable running temp but if there is no sun it's manageable as long as it isn't crazy humid too. Race I'm doing is in October and historically that means about 45 at start.
