Yes, HS diploma or GED. The prevailing theory is that brains get in the way of carrying a weapon and making lethal force choices. When sent through training, they are given just enough knowledge to be dangerous. Police forces often reject candidates with “too high” IQs, citing over-qualification.

Psychological screenings given often do not adequately assess a candidate’s moral or ethical outlook… only seeking to find if the candidate has certain specific mental health conditions that might impact job performance.
