it’s not that I think it’s his best but IV is *without question* my favorite. a perfect cheeky stoner haze of a film.

this is a thing I love about PTA - his films are all so specific and idiosyncratic that everyone’s going to have a different ranking and different ones that land or miss my top 4 are Boogie Nights, Phantom Thread, Punch-Drunk Love and There Will Be Blood, in roughly that order
