It is odd. The day after the shooting he was on his golf course and photographers captured his ear in photos with no damage, not even a scab. I’ve seen 5.56 wounds in the military first hand. The kinetic energy behind those rounds, even if grazed, would be quite obvious if his ear was actually hit.
