We knew — we knew — that hotter seas meant stronger hurricanes, that warmer air meant wetter storms, that rising seas meant higher surges. We had the science. We had the evidence. And still we chose to accelerate, to subsidize fossil fuels, to silence the truth. open.substack.com/pub/rebekahj...

The point of no return might be reached in a few years. Where reforestation projects will be outweighed by wildfires. And Venusian styled hurricanes will topple the structures of man. Isn't it a christian heaven? The feeble minded that will inherit the earth?

I was deeply moved after reading this article. 🌍 We've long known about the consequences of global warming, but why do societies and governments repeatedly ignore it? Do you think economic interests are more important, or do we lack a long-term perspective?

The simplest of answers. Stupidity rules. It 's is almost impossible to stop a freight train. And a lot of shadowy people profit from destruction.

You make a lot of sense... Sometimes it feels like society is being pushed along by a massive force, and it's hard to stop. 😔 But I still wonder, if more ordinary people were willing to speak out and take action, that could at least slow down that train a bit, right? What do you think?

Afraid for a stir or popularity numbers, I don't know. My optimystic sight, says: It will pass. It's just a blip in the worlds rearview mirror. If not us, something else.

Not even to save their lives or health. If we were with 1 million people - the world would be big enough. But not with 8 billion. They don't seem to get it? And the people who can say sth effectively against it - don't speak up.

And in my view more than should be with the information we have. How everything comes around. A plastic vork per body worth of microplastics in peoples body, wasn't it? And do people care?

Thanks for asking. I have a pessimistic side, which says we are with too much (in numbers) to make mistakes - like polluting. Simple things - what people throw away on the street, cans plastics whatever you find, too much people are still polluting - unchanged by information.

Because the capitalist economy necessitates constant growth forever to keep making more profits. It's not that they ignore it, it's that they're incentivized to not care. The solution is transferring to a socialist structure where goofs are made with 100% worker ownership and where production(cont)

Is based on need rather than profit. Capitalism causes all this damage and get a lot of the stuff it makes gets trashed or wasted anyway because it makes goods based off how well they sell, not if the people actually need them.

If production and the assets and tools needed to perform it are owned communally, then workers can decide to make what would most benefit their community instead of cranking out stuff that's gonna sit in landfills because quality was cut for the sake of profit margins.
