Actually, this is an example of inflammatory but likely groundless accusations that, like the spiked Steel dossier, can both 1)distract from the real kompromat (i.e. the 2016 collusion and Trump's multifaceted coverup) AND 2)serve to broadly discredit accusers once the wild claims get debunked.
The fact that Russian asset Benny Johnson airs this on his show is already a red flag about this being a red herring.

Again, wild and unfounded accusations are a distraction, helpful for Trump and even more for Putin. The explanation is in plain sight: mutual knowledge of the 2016 Trump-Russia "collusion" is enough kompromat for Putin to have leverage over Trump. Please listen to the podcast.
The fact that, through a long and systematic effort (Manafort & Stone pardons, Durham investigation, purging of Russian experts at FBI and everywhere else, propaganda campaigns), Trump has succeeded in obscuring his 2016 collusion means the Russians are the only ones who can spill the beans on it.
