I was never taught about him and was never given a reason to learn. We were only taught English history. No Scottish history was taught in Scottish schools. We were only given lessons about how the English conquered the world and how great they were.
My parents graduated from a Black college. We were obligated to build our own as white people wouldn’t let us go to theirs. As Black Americans we have never been able to trust white Americans with our children.
