I am suddenly at the age at which a man gets really into swords.

Happy 15th birthday!
Have you started birdwatching yet? (I’m being sincere) A field guide and a pair of binoculars are waiting for you if you haven’t. :)
No but my heart is open to this.
What started for me as a casual interest was set off by my first sighting of a Rose-breasted grosbeak (my spark bird). I was a goner after that. It swiftly (bird pun) developed into a passion, that is also therapeutic, and meditative at times. I can see you loving it, especially photographing them.
Oh hell yeah bud welcome 🤗 ⚔️ I forged my first sword this year - if you’ve got 3-4 months, a medium tolerance for pain, and a high tolerance for grubbiness then I totally recommend forging as a hobby
Welcome friend. May I also recommend bird watching? If you're at swords, you've gotta be close.
And your name is so close to Alex Steel! Jealous.
I hear Excalibur is a good one
Ha!
8?
Then it's no coincidence that you just reposted a @swordsjew.bsky.social article.
Love @swordjam.bsky.social. Check out our @youaregood.bsky.social episode about Lord of the Rings!
sword jam
This is my highest compliment: I don't watch movies or usually like them, they don't play well with my flavor of ADHD. I don't particularly like LOTR even though it should be my thing. And yet because you and Sarah Marshall and guests have created something so special and valuable to me, I will.
For me it's not about the subject matter, it's about the care y'all demonstrate (Caroline too!) for your listeners, the fact that you are all interesting, fun, funny people with smart perspectives.
…and soon you will be old enough to vote
Time to binge watch Forged in Fire
When you've tried axe you can't go back
Ah, but *which* swords? Backswords? Viking broadswords? Katanas? Cavalry swords? Samshirs? Rapiers and smallswords? The choice of sword might inform what movie to watch! Katana: "Yojimbo." Rapiers: "The Three Musketeers" (1974 with Oliver Reed and Michael York).
Omg. I didnt give 2 shits about swords, but I stumbled upon this guy's YT and I absolutely love it! youtube.com/@robinswords...
Get ready because books about World War II are right around the corner.
Perhaps shotguns are more practical.
But I already have shotguns.
And do you have thoughts on the Roman Empire?
Birth?
You telling me you didn't make swords as a child?
Excellent.
Cool
Thank you!
i'm surprised you don't already have a decent sword collection
I'll buy nice knives from time to time but i was just taking a machete out of the car (I know) and started to think about longer blades.
I have to imagine you have more than one goofy truck stop knife, there are so many choice ones in the Central Valley
I feel like I am on the brink of getting so much silver and turquoise too.
We need to go SHOPPIN
just super casually pulling a machete out of the car, as one does
I put it in the back of Carolyn's car when she goes on trips as tool / protection.
you need one of those "women love me/fish fear em hats" but instead of fish its coconuts, and there's a picture of a machete
Coconuts TERRIFIED
Is the woman version crossbows? Because I would like crossbows.
The trick is making sure the swords don't get into you Wall Mount carefully
It really sneaks up on ya
I'm a fan of the US Mod. 1852 Foot Artillery Sword You can help change the fate of Kansas with just a couple of em
