Lions fans were dismissive of the Ben Johnson loss bc they think it’s the same system so they should be fine but having a different person calling plays is a completely different experience. Also, I’ve been saying that Goff’s internal clock sped up when he sees Parsons on the field.
That’s a nuance not enough fans grasp. A playbook is a playbook. A great OC knows what to call when and how to set things up to have options later. Not saying Morton doesn’t have that, but Ben was incredible at it. He also was a major calming presence for Goff.
See Payton and LINO. You can run the same scheme but one is great and the other is incompetent. Too early to call on Morton but I’ll wait until the end of the season to see if he'll improve.
