I understand re-upping these stories but I’m still depressed thinking of how little people cared when they first ran. Everything we needed to know about the man was publicly available and plenty. How he got elected is testimony to a populace unwilling to set the barest of standards for a leader

I debated it with a MAGA before the election. He was basically saying by the end "he may be a pedophile but they all are so I'm gonna vote for him". Real answer was I'm going to make some money and he hates the people I hate so let me grab this handy figleaf.
Same. In 2016, I was telling a friend in Oklahoma about Trump's mob connections especially the Russian mob. She said "Oh they're all mobsters, look at Joe Kennedy" and proceeded to vote for him. We're no longer friends.
