I feel ya, brother. I've been hospitalized, flat on my back, for the past week with multiple lumbar fractures - surgery Thursday or Friday. Advice: 1) Do exactly what you're told. 2) A hot, wet washcloth for your face and neck, and a shave (at least for me), feel divine. We're going to make it. 👍🏼🤞🏼
Sorry 😞
Good luck. Just had the same issues. Getting injections T11/12 today! 🙏
Here's hoping the injections help! Sending healing thoughts.
Thank you. It’s been a rough 3 months but I’m hopeful
Good luck, I know that horrible feeling
I'm so sorry you know the feeling. And thank you for the support. 💜
Feel free to reach out if you’ve got any questions, I’ve had two go-rounds with the neurosurgeons now but opted against surgery for the moment - may yet need it in the future. Good luck, spines are bloody rubbish!
That is so generous of you. I will if I need to. I did the neurosurgery thing for a subdural hematoma back in 2020, but that was a case of surgery or potential neurological damage. This seems different.
I had a bad experience with one neurosurgeon and a good experience with the other, but both of them were very clear about the difference between something where you *need* surgery or whether it’s something surgery can help a bit with. It was the latter for me, so I opted not to do it, considering…
…the risks and potential complications. Anyway turned out the first neurosurgeon got struck off for malpractice so I dodged a bullet there!
Wow. Respect to you for advocating for yourself. They definitely don't make that easy. My neurosurgery was an emergency situation. There was imminent danger, and I was rushed to one hospital, then to another, then I found myself in a bed listening to the neurosurgeon describe the possible risks...
...on both sides. I had been in unimaginable pain for well over a month at that point, crying a lot. The whole thing was a bit of a whirlwind, but the outcome was positive. I'm in a lot of neck and back pain these days, and it's been constant and near immobilizing for several months. So we'll see.
Are you in the UK? I felt that the NHS were very supportive and I didn’t feel pressured. Neck pain is so grim, I really feel for you. Good luck.
I'm actually in the USA. Looks like this is going to be a long process. Before I see the neurosurgeon, I need to see a nurse practitioner who will review my images and test results and possibly order more tests. That appointment won't happen until the end of August. So it's gonna be a bit drawn out.
Sending best wishes and hugs. 🫂
