I was so fortunate to hear about him before he started making English language films. Those early works are still astounding.
I think the first thing I saw by him was Pan's Labyrinth. maybe a bit basic but it is up with my favourite films of all time. then went back and watched Devil's Backbone too, and I think I have seen Cronos too. glad he has international renown now but man, those Spanish language films. amazing.
Pan's Labyrinth is favorite of mine too. I started with Devil's Backbone and Cronos and I was just taken by his powerful visuals. And the originality of his storytelling. Kristie and I both love The Shape of Water. Justice for the Creature at last!
