Yep happens a lot. Don’t just ask once either. Ask repeatedly, remind them often. If you’re annoying enough (and good at your job) they’ll promote you just to shut you up lol

Yeah just be professional and polite. But bring it up regularly, at least until you get a timeline or a list of things you need to do / prove to get promoted.
