I feed my cats 1/2 canned and 1/2 raw food. One of the main reasons I tried raw was due to the massive pet food recalls in 2007 that affected both dry and canned food - all cooked. Dont blame owners when a corporation doesnt test its meat. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_pe...

Our dogs LOVE raw rabbit! With a Ph of 0-1, I think they gonna be alright. We humans love our clorox wipes and safe practices when prepping their meals.

I hear you but, respectfully, things change. In this era of deadly bird flu, I urge you to rethink the raw option. The risk now surpasses any benefit. If you must, cook raw to 160°F and return to room temp to serve. (FYI: My cats choose dry only now. What do they know that we pet parents don't yet?)

I’m lucky my cats prefer the rabbit meat flavor. Animals eat raw whole animals in the wild. They never cook their food. Cats are not tiny humans in fur coats. A corporation killed that cat because it didn’t test its meat.

Again the link I posted included several brands of commercially made and COOKED pet food that killed both cats and dogs in 2007. It went on for months. It affected dozens of brands. Also raw food includes things like rabbit meat which is unlikely to contain bird flu.

also, with a certain incoming orange menace, we already have issues in the human food supply due to his de-regulation (baby formula, boars head listeria plant, etc) - so, might want to start cooking your own cat food, or looking at a co. that cooks their own small batch fresh cat foods like smalls

be careful with the raw food with avian flu going around. it's not just jumping to humans, but a metric fuckton of other species, including cats and livestock (goats, cows) (i won't even get into exotics)

You shouldn’t feed your cat just liver. Carnivores eat raw meat that is covered in bacteria. They have a totally different digestive tract. They aren’t tiny humans covered in fur. My cats have eaten raw for years and thrived on the diet.

My son is a veterinarian and said avian flu is killing cats, raw food and raw milk can pass avian flu, killing both big cats and domestic cats. Some vets are talking about using ppp to treat cats. Veterinarians are receiving daily news due to the high mortality rate . nbcmontana.com/amp/news/nat...

Grain free and raw are like the pet food version of paleo, it’s mostly a grift. Some people/animals do fine on it but there’s no real science behind it and many will be harmed by it long term. It’s mostly vibes and anecdotal. avmajournals.avma.org/view/journal...

When did human beings get the GI tract of a carnivore? Comparing human diets to a cat’s makes no sense. No real science behind it is funny since all cat species eat whole animals which are not cooked.

That is not a comparison that I made. The comparison is between the amount of scientific evidence of safety and health benefits. Just because cats living rough do eat raw that doesn’t mean it’s the best or safest. And really that’s the same slogan used to sell paleo. I remember those recalls, they

Same vet said this, “take whatever dry food you have left at home, wrap it up in a bag and throw it away. Dry food is garbage.” Again this is a vet not a random person on the internet.

I’m just going to quote my vet after years of trying to get the weight off an obese cat with cooked cat food, “His blood work is the healthiest I’ve seen on a 13 year old cat.” I don’t really understand that diet (raw) but it’s worked for Otto. He went from 25 lbs to 17.5 in a year.

Boys in Bangladesh are trafficked to illegally collect shrimp from areas that are supposed to be protected. Many Bengali tigers have less space so are there. The boys are not only exploited for labor and starving, but they are hunted and killed by tigers. To make cat food.

A cow - classic herbivore. Incredibly long and complicated GI tract. They have to chew their food spit it back up and chew it again then pass through multiple stomachs to gain nutrients from it. Different GI tracts different diets.

Decoding Fox News @decodingfoxnews.bsky.social

We are the classic omnivore - our guts are longer and more complicated. We have teeth that can chew on plants along with meat. We don’t have the same acidity in our GI tract. We can also go for long periods without food. A carnivore can’t do that. They have to eat constantly.

Decoding Fox News @decodingfoxnews.bsky.social

A cat’s gut is extremely simple and short compared to ours because cats don’t eat plants. They have extremely acidic stomachs that basically cook the meat once it hits. They also have razor sharp teeth we don’t have.

That’s not much of an argument. Herbivores are the ones who are born in such high numbers they are food for multiple species. Carnivores - not so much. People keep acting like cats are humans which is ridiculous.
