It is amazing to me that these "market experts" in the Cabinet don't seem to understand markets at all. It is not their job to go on CNBC or Fox "News" and pump the market up. It is their job to FIX things! Get something done! Repeal the Trump Tax Tariffs!!! Do your damn Job!!! #trumpcession

I wonder how, just frankly how, dumb and out of touch with reality people are? If the store has no storage for items in the back, where does Treas Sec think the stores are going to put stuff that he assumes they ‘pre-ordered’. Like if he thinks retailers are stocking up, where are they putting it?

But wait! There more: WH revealed it's terrified to let people know how much tariffs will cost them, threatening Bezos with a personal call. Bessent reassured us that the higher prices Trump tariffs will make normies pay will directly fund tax cuts for the billionaire class

Treasury Sec: I assume retailers preordered. Reporter: But the ports are empty because there are no shipments coming in. Treasury Sec: I assume they will go back in time and order more beforehand. Reporter: You’re a worthless moron. Treasury Sec. I assume you’re right. (How I imagined it)

🦋 Scott Bessent's 'plan' is to basically hope that businesses had foreseen the level to which Trump would destroy supply chains and the economy - when the Treasury Secretary wasn't warning anyone because he hadn't? 🦋

It would be great if a large account like yours could start asking ppl to post shelf updates in their areas since we have zero government leadership on this rn. No fear mongering, just factual updates on what ppl are seeing at their store.

A few years back, when a gasoline processing plant went offline for a few days due to a malfunction. Just the rumors of gas outages sparked long lines pumps. Same thing will happen next week to grocery stores. Just the murmur of the possibility of empty shelves will start a run on items.

If we take his moronic statement. How long does it take from order until the ship hits LA port. 4 weeks minimum? And then they get the tariff hit. So they would have to plan for Trump to go full retard +6weeks in advance to feel sorta safe? Or pay $$$$

We spent the last few decades moving to a Just In Time model for inventory where nothing would be in stock for more than a matter of days. The whole western economy was built around zero interruptions to supply in order to squeeze every penny out of the process.

Yes. I recall that being discussed as a very real danger of JIT systems at least 20 years ago. But reduced warehousing cost and a faster churn rate was just too compelling to resist.
