My understanding is that the origin of most suppression tactics is in attempts to ensure every voter gets precisely one vote. That makes it appear justified, even when it's intentionally used to dismiss votes. It's hard to fix when legislators are the ones it rewards.

I've read that series of posts. The math is nonsense, as any elementary school graduate should be able to tell. They're assuming each vote independently depends on a static, predetermined probability, like 50/50 between two parties. Votes are not random, so all of that "math" is completely wrong.
