I have a few that are also ouchy snugglers. I've yet to understand why, but in mine's cases they seem to get worse with it as they age. My oldest cat is 13 and he has gotten to the point that you can't pick him up or let him curl up on you without fully extended claws in to your arm/leg/tummy
Maybe it just helps them feel more secure 😻
That's my thoughts. I've noticed as my cats get older they get less graceful in jumps and climbs. My reasoning is they feel like they are more likely to slip or slide down so they grab on the only way they know how. Hurts like hell but who could be mad knowing a cat wanted to hold on to you?
She wants to stay put!
