I had never heard of it until the late 1990’s when I watched a documentary about it, even though I later learned some relatives on both sides of my family died, including my father’s older sister.
My father didn’t even know he had had a sister until he was in his late 50’s. No one ever talked about her.
My father had a cousin back in Norway who was very into genealogy and put together a well-researched and detailed family tree, who told him and sent my dad a picture of his sister. www.history.com/articles/191...
