LA in particular given that a good portion of the Latino population has roots there that go back further than California’s existence as part of the United States.

….and so it’s ok for ICE to discriminate against all brown people because how will they know for sure? The most disappointing thing in all of this is how many Latinos voted for Trump. He’s basically been telling him he was going to deport them this whole time….maybe the only truth he’s ever told.
I’ve seen signs that read “we don’t cross the border, the border crossed us!” And that’s true here in southern Arizona as well. There have been First Nation people here going back 4000 years!
That was the phrase I was trying to remember!
Perhaps Mexico could just pull a Putin tactic and adopt the portions of CA that used to be Mexico?
Used to be part of Spain!! Many “Latinos” are some % indigenous peoples. Why not spend energy on a guest worker registration initiative. CA economy is suffering
Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, please reject the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848) and take us back. Thank You
It always amazes me that a large segment of our population appears to believe that the area west of the Mississippi had no population or history before the California Gold Rush.
MANIFEST DESTINY!!!!
LA probably had a population of no more than 10,000 when California became a state.
Ok? NYC had a population of 60K in 1800. Organic population growth is a thing.
The reality is that Latinos, like most residents in LA, arrived after California became a state.
yeah. the real question isn't "did people migrate to LA" but "where did they migrate from", because a vast number of those "migrants" came from other places that are also now part of the US.
All of my relatives came from Ukraine, others came from Japan, China, Italy, Mexico, among other countries,
If you look at an actual 1790 map of North America, parts of Arizona and New Mexico were designated as Apacheria.
All of California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and part of New Mexico were Mexico before CA became a state
True, but the population of California in 1845 was under 40,000. Also, parts of New Mexico and Arizona were called Apacheria, not controlled by Mexico.
Soooooo many people have no idea that the southern 1/3rd of California was Mexico until we annexed it through war. The Mexicans living there didn’t immigrate, the border moved
Latinos have roots going back 30k+ years in both North and South America.
This especially.
Exactly. The Treaty of Guadalupe promised the people already living in this territory would keep their land & language.
If that were true then LA would have some kind of hispanic sounding name or something.
Same with New Mexico. They've been here for 23,000 years.
Well That is the way Trump planned it If they were smart they would question authority
"I don't care that your ancestors have been here for 20000 years! You're a foreigner now says my 2nd generation white ass!"
Absolutely. People don’t realize that our “LatinX,”Hispanic, Latino populations of Mexicans, Mexican-Americans, and People of the Americas are a blend of Indigenous People’s (here first), and Spanish (since the 1500s). If anything, all of us Whitey Mestizas should be the ones that GTFO, actually!
Yeah, he left out the part where it used to be part of Mexico. SMH.
Everybody forgot about Californios!!!
True Americans who were already here when the johnny-come-lately pilgrim/pioneer/house-land-thieving/murdering marauders chose to illegally immigrate, uninvited.
They didn't come "the right way".
Californios, descendants of Spanish soldiers, colonists & missionaries with a culture in rancheros, received large land grants from the Spanish & Mexican govts. As a U.S. territory, they were displaced by settlers & lost their land. Despite this, Californio families & heritage persist & are honored.
Yes!! The US govt helped white squatters steal ranches and break the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo!! It is so nice to find someone else who paid attention in history!!! Hi!! 👋
Hello 👋
And where did they get statistics on illegal immigration, the government? The one whose statistics for jobs we are told not to trust. Seem to really go a la carte for information to satisfy their depravity. Lord help us.
The purpose is ethnic cleansing. In 1848, when Mexico lost 55% of its territory, the citizens who remained became US citizen. Los Angeles was founded in 1781, predating the European migration to the west. They want to remove and harass those known today as Latino, and normalize “otherness.”
I’m sure that’s why Trump deployed the National Guard there first, to assert his positional power on the people.
SC decides, you can kill a n*****.
here to remind everyone that when you bought/took Texas, it was full of mexicans
Same with southern CA.
lol right Baja California y Baja California Sur
Yeah, the border crossed them.
