Equality for equally deadly weapons.
Cars have usefulness other than killing things…
Most people don't try to kill as many people as possible with cars.
Cars aren’t MADE to eviscerate your organs or separate flesh from bone. But yes, please manage them like car ownership at a minimum. Proficiency, Registration, Insurance and Revocation of privileges when appropriate.
When someone dies on the death certificate it says what they died of, what they don't say is john doe died from jack Jones, it says they died from a gun shot not from who shot the gun, people don't kill people guns kill people.
We’ve been saying this forever. No different than it’s “mental health” issues. In the equation of humanity, responsibility, emotions, mental health AND guns the only thing we can CONTROL is the inanimate object, GUNS. BUT we’re dealing with a large, profoundly stupid, populace.
Here’s the reality. Primarily the only people who oppose stricter gun laws and additional requirements, like the ones described here, are the people who know they wouldn’t pass the extended background check, the tests, etc. And the gun industry supports them bc they make tons of $ selling guns.
People just make shit up to rationalize their immoral and unethical positions and beliefs.
Canada has all those, and the gun owners hate the rules too, but they follow them and for the most part, the restrictions don’t affect their enthusiasm for hunting and shooting. Like everything else, you get used to change. It’s a small inconvenience but it’s no sacrifice, none whatsoever
Also people in cars are routinely watched in public streets for violating traffic laws.
Guns already have serial numbers on them so they can be tracked. Different states have different licensing laws: in Minnesota you need a “license to purchase” to buy a handgun or “military” (non-hunting) gun, and an optional conceal and carry permit to carry your gun in public. Not enough.
It should be like this in all 50 states. Because what's stopping someone from going to a state which doesn't have these regulations and purchasing a gun there?
