In the Age of Trump, being an asshole - saying whatever you feel like - is taken as "manly". Fortunately, some men still remember their morals their parents (mostly mom) taught them.

I supervise a young Black woman and every so often I ask myself if something i say will come off as condescending/otherizing rather than supportive, ie would she be interested in going to a conference for Black women in insurance. That courtesy is the bare minimum I owe her and myself.
