I have for a very long time wondered how that is not a more frequent occurrence (or if it was, how this was never uncovered). Especially given how ornery some of the US sports team owners are. So this is extremely my shit

I suspect almost all US sports owners care more about profit than winning, and therefore they aren’t motivated to skirt the financial rules, while many soccer owners are the opposite I don’t think there’s a mega rich owner that has a major US sports team on a lark unlike PSG, City, Abramovich, etc

Cuban clearly hasn’t watched the episode and its depth of reporting that suggests this was a salary cap skirting mechanism. I’ve covered so many financial shenanigans stories involving supposedly sensible/smart actors. “X isn’t that dumb” is such a common refrain. And yet they frequently are!
